Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier, follows them out - we were seeing his point of view all along - and introduces himself. The kids we just saw come running out of a house to greet Shuri. Then the camera quickly shifts from the first-person point of view to a wide shot of T’Challa’s sister Shuri, standing outside by a lake.
We watch through this mystery person’s eyes as the kids run out of the room. The person is just waking up, and these kids are the first things they see. It’s filmed from a first-person point of view, but we won’t find out whose eyes we’re looking through until later in the scene. But the reality is that it’s the most technologically advanced country on Earth, with all kinds of weaponry, science, and tech that far surpass what other countries have. Throughout Black Panther, we’re reminded in various ways that most people believe Wakanda to be a poor, third-world nation. Before the scene concludes, an unnamed character condescendingly asks what Wakanda really has to offer to the rest of the world. He also says he no longer wants Wakanda to be an isolationist country. Both scenes, but especially the second one, relate to the studio’s forthcoming team-up film Avengers: Infinity War, which is slated to hit theaters in May.
